Patrick’s Page
Patrick was born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1983. His parents were excited, except they thought they were getting a girl. And that’s why Patrick’s original name was “Abigail.” Patrick grew up in Louisville, and attended the Westport Road church of Christ. Patrick was baptized by his second youth minister, Brett Phillips. However, Patrick’s next youth minister was probably his biggest influence toward being a minister.
Doug Lalli joined the Westport Road ministry team in late 1997, and had a large impact on Patrick’s life. Doug’s outgoing personality, love for singing, and focus on healthy spiritual growth encouraged all of the teens in the group. Patrick decided then that he wanted to try and become a youth minister so that he could have a similar, life-changing influence on future teens.
Patrick went to Harding University from 2001 to 2006, earning degrees in both Youth Ministry (B. A.) and Ministry (M. Min.). While at Harding he competed in Track, Soccer, and Ultimate Frisbee. While at Harding Patrick also got the chance to study for a semester in Florence, Italy.
Patrick met his lovely wife Keri in 2003 when he interned at her home congregation, the Shiner church of Christ, in Corbin, Kentucky. She wasn’t very interested in him at first, but he wore her down in the long run. They became engaged on December 31st, 2004, and were married July 1st 2006.
Patrick loves to be active and moving around, but he also loves reading. Some of his favorite ministry related books are Blue Like Jazz, The Suffering of God, Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters and Too Christian, Too Pagan. All of the books in his office are available for check out.
