Cincinnati Urban Ministry Outreach (CUMO)

Cincinnati Urban Ministry Outreach (CUMO) is an organization whose sole mission is to help meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people in some of the poorest neighborhoods in inner city Cincinnati. The ministry began in the summer of 2001 in the communities of Millvale, Moosewood, and English Wood areas of South Cumminsville. This outreach effort is supervised by a committee representing four Cincinnati area churches (Withamsville, Northeast, Central, and South Dayton Churches of Christ). These congregations provide the primary funding for the organization. This work is under the oversight of the Withamsville Church of Christ Eldership.

Northeast Church of Christ continues to support the CUMO ministry in a number of ministry programs, including the following activities:

  • The School Supply Drive: This program provides basic school supplies for the students at the Millvale Elementary School at the beginning of each school year.
  • The Winter Clothing Drive: This program annually provides new and/or gently used winter clothing for children and adults.
  • Christmas Store Program: This initiative provides community residents the opportunity for local residents to purchase toys for area children at significantly reduced (-75%) prices.
  • Teen Youth Worship: In this program the Northeast teen group lead Bible classes for CUMO youth during their Sunday morning children's worship.
